|Plant type||95% Indica 5% Sativa|
|THC||Up to 18%|
|Climate||Indoors and sunny climate|
|Yields||14 to 17 oz per 3x3ft|
|Taste & Smell||Citrus | Earthy|
With a makeup of 95% indica and 5% sativa, this hybrid has won Cannabis Cup awards on two separate occasions. It’s believed to either be the result of combining the world-renowned Hindu Kush with Skunk #1 or breeding two different varieties of Hindu Kush.
The indica-dominant Master Kush has a potent THC level of up to 24%. This gives it the ability to induce a euphoria that calms you while slowing down your body. However, unlike many other potent cannabis strains, it doesn’t cause your brain to become “stuck.” Instead, it delivers a balanced full-body high, that is enjoyable and smooth, without the heaviness on your brain.
Master Kush Strain Origin
Master Kush was initially named “High Rise” when bred by the Dutch White label seed company in Amsterdam. Their version was an indica powerhouse with 95% of indica and 5% of sativa. The original strain was bred using different landrace strains from the region of Hindu Kush.
Growing Master Kush Feminized Seeds
These are feminized seeds. Female plants, contrary to male plants, are the ones that actually produce weed. They start flowering when they receive less light per day, i.e. in the Fall or when you manipulate the light cycle indoors.

Master Kush Plants
Master Kush is easy to grow strain for some growers, and moderate for others, both indoors and outdoors. This strain prefers a hot and tropical climate where a lot of sun rays will be able to penetrate through its dense buds. The plants are short and thick and can thrive in a small grow space. Master Kush is considered an easy grow because it is resistant to many pests, common molds, and parasites.
Because of its size, this strain is perfect for hydroponic setups. Its small size doesn’t decrease its appetite, however, and hydroponic growing lets the grower give this small weed plant the loving attention it deserves.
Flowering & Yield
Master Kush takes 7-9 weeks to flower when grown indoors. Yields should be about 14 ounces per square meter. When cultivating this strain outdoors, expect yields of around 18 ounces of usable bud per plant. Harvest takes place during September or October.
Experiencing The Master Kush Strain
Master Kush provides a balanced high that is not too heady or couch-locky. With just a few puffs, its effects take over the body, delivering strong relaxation and peace. As its name suggests, it is a “master” of relaxation for your entire body. It also creates some astonishing visuals with each puff.
This strain will make your body feel prickly and happy. Unlike many indicas, this strain can be enjoyed during the day. If you are a working person that experiences a lot of stress, then you will love its relaxing effects. You’ll experience relief from stress that lasts for hours, allowing you to continue being productive throughout the day. Then, at night, as your buzz comes down, you’ll be fully relaxed, and ready for a restful sleep that lasts throughout the night.
Indica is all about leisure. Many offer a cerebral buzz that makes your body completely relax, and Master Kush is no different. Enjoy the unique euphoria of this strain while it puts you in a good mood, throughout your entire high.
In addition to a better mood, you’ll also experience a little hunger. Savvy marijuana consumers call this sudden urge to eat anything in sight “the munchies.” To curb this minor effect, eat something. This effect also makes it a very effective treatment for those suffering from serious nausea and appetite loss.
Master Kush will make you feel great, but there are a few minor side effects. While smoking this strain of cannabis, you may feel like your mouth is full of cotton due to dry mouth. This cottonmouth is easy to combat by simply drinking some liquids while and after smoking the strain. This strain also can make you dehydrated to the point that your eyes feel dry. Again, drink lots of water or use eye drops if your eyes become red and itchy.
Consumers of Master Kush may feel small bouts of dizziness and or feelings of paranoia. This is especially the case when consumed in large quantities. This is a potent strain, so beginner smokers should pay attention to how much they use. Smoking too much of this strain might lead to a minor headache and a feeling of anxiety.
Master Kush Taste & Smell
You won’t miss the smell of this strain. Master Kush smells extremely potent and has a recognizable dank aroma. It reminds the user of an earthy note with citrus flavoring. There’s also a hint of sweetness that hits the air, which fills up the room instantly with an overpowering Kush smell.
The taste of this strain can best be described as pungent. You’ll detect a sweet, woody flavor that’s both smooth and pleasing to the tongue. Prepare yourself for the earthly pleasantness that comes with the bold shock of strong citrus flavor.
Uses for Master Kush
Master Kush is magical when it comes to medical use for several reasons. It is a very effective treatment for both temporary and chronic conditions. It also has the power to ease a lot of ailments such as:
- Mental disorders
- Stress conditions
- Chronic pain
- Loss of appetite
- Chronic nausea
- Joint pains
- Muscle spasms
Also, because Master Kush induces the munchies, it’s highly recommended to cancer sufferers going through chemotherapy or radiation treatments. These tend to cause chronic nausea, which leads to loss of appetite. This strain produces hunger in these patients, giving them the motivation to eat, and potentially aiding in their recovery.
